Despite numerous challenges, Volkswagen delivered around 4.8 million vehicles to customers worldwide last year, which is 1.4% lower than the previous year. Volkswagen once again became the undisputed market leader in Germany, with a market share of 19.1%, according to data from the Federal Motor Transport Authority of Germany (KBA).

Martin Sander, Volkswagen board member for sales, marketing, and after-sales, noted: "The year 2024 was difficult for the world as a whole: sluggish economic activity, political challenges, and fierce competition, particularly in China. However, we start the new year with optimism. Not only do we offer attractive products, but we also meet the needs of various customer groups thanks to our wide and diverse range of models, covering all types of drivetrains."

The brand also boasts a significant range of battery electric vehicles (BEVs). Since the launch of the ID family in 2019, Volkswagen has sold over 1.35 million units of ID vehicles worldwide, including around 500,000 units of the ID.3. Last year, the company sold 383,100 electric vehicles.

Undisputed market leader in Germany and Europe. In 2024, Volkswagen once again became the undisputed market leader in Germany, with a 19.1% market share, according to KBA data. The top ten best-selling vehicles included five Volkswagen models: Golf, T-Roc, Tiguan, Passat, and Polo. Additionally, Volkswagen topped the electric vehicle market in Germany. Here, Volkswagen vehicles accounted for 16.3% of new registrations, which is 2.8 percentage points higher than in 2023.

The trend towards SUVs remains strong in 2024. The demand for SUVs remained high in 2024, both with conventional drivetrains and fully electric versions. They now account for 47% of Volkswagen's total deliveries, 1.4 percentage points higher than in 2023. The Tiguan was once again the most popular SUV and best-selling model, followed by the T-Roc. Since the compact crossover's launch, over 2 million units have been sold. In 2025, Volkswagen will release the next generation of the T-Roc.

The Polo is also a significant event this year, celebrating 50 years since the launch of the first generation of the model. To this day, the small Volkswagen remains very popular worldwide, with over 20 million units delivered. For instance, in Brazil last year, a record 172,510 units of the Polo were delivered.
