Legendary supercar designer Gordon Murray has exciting plans for the future of his cars, in addition to the already well-known T.50 and T.33 variants. In a recent interview for the Autocar podcast, he shared news that a new car, built on a completely new architecture, will be unveiled in 2028 when the production of the first series of his supercars will be completed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI don\u2019t want to keep repeating the same thing,\u201d Murray noted in his conversation with journalists. \u201cSo the next car we will create after the final version of the T.33 S will be built on an entirely new platform \u2014 it will be a completely new car.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Murray left it to the fans and technical experts to speculate what exactly the new car will be. According to him, it will be a model radically different from anything his company has already introduced. He didn\u2019t specify exactly what shape the new car will take, but stated that it would be a totally different style. Since the T.50 and T.33 are mid-engine supercars, many are expecting the new car could be a traditional front-engine coupe. However, the possibilities remain open: it could also be a sedan, shooting brake, or even an SUV (though Murray probably doesn\u2019t mean such a possibility). But these statements leave plenty of room for speculation and expectations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Murray is confident that this new model will be the best in its segment and said, \u201cThis is the car I have always wanted to build.\u201d Like the previous supercars from Gordon Murray Automotive, the new model will be produced in a limited series of just 100 units. All examples are expected to sell out instantly, given the interest and the brand\u2019s high standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Cosworth V12 engine is a strong candidate for this new mysterious car. As Murray explains, \u201cWe may stay with the V12 for a while,\u201d but at the same time, the company is actively working on research to understand how best to combine the traditional V12 with hybrid technologies. Murray assured that any addition of electrification will be \u201cminimal and only meet basic requirements\u201d to keep the core design principles intact, in line with his philosophies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Additionally, Murray confirmed that the T.33 S version will be officially unveiled next summer. This car will be a more extreme and refined version of the T.33, combining high technical performance and improved handling through higher downforce and an updated suspension setup.
