Stellantis says it has been working closely with Mistral AI for over a year on various technology projects, including fleet and sales data analysis. Among the initiatives, the startup\u2019s expertise in large language models (LLM) helps the automaker analyze large data sets to improve production quality, reduce development time, and enhance customer satisfaction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis partnership is an important step in our efforts to make GenAI more accessible and valuable,\u201d said Arthur Mench, CEO and co-founder of Mistral AI, in a release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The AI-powered assistant will allow Stellantis customers to ask questions about vehicle features and receive instant guidance through conversational interaction. Responses could include explanations of warning indicators or how to resolve an issue with the vehicle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Stellantis also launched a chatbot for employees in France called \u201cVirtual Assistant Club Stellantis,\u201d which assists with the purchase of company vehicles. The assistant supports voice queries in multiple languages, which Stellantis says is key for its planned rollout across Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the release, Stellantis is collaborating with Mistral AI on developing \u201cmaterials data analytics,\u201d which uses AI to optimize the analysis of complex component databases. For example, a chatbot powered by Mistral AI technology helps Stellantis engineers identify the best parts to maximize reuse and efficiency, the release states.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mistral AI is also providing Stellantis with vehicle feedback analysis, using AI to process data from automakers\u2019 fleets to improve vehicle quality by quickly identifying potential problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Stellantis says it is evaluating Mistral AI’s edge computing models to detect manufacturing defects in real time and take corrective actions before any components are installed in vehicles on the assembly line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThere are many players in the AI space, and we are especially excited to work with Mistral AI for its ability to quickly adapt and achieve meaningful results in close collaboration,\u201d said Ned Curic, Chief Engineering and Technology Officer of Stellantis, in the release. \u201cTogether, we are exploring the potential of AI across several areas to improve the development of our products, customer experience, and deliver real benefits.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Other automakers are also working on integrating AI technology into their vehicles and operations, including Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen Group. In June 2023, Mercedes-Benz became the first automaker to integrate a demo version of ChatGPT into its MBUX voice assistant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At CES 2024 in January, Volkswagen showcased its own AI-powered voice assistant for the ID.7 electric sedan, developed in partnership with software developer Cerence. It uses generative AI to allow drivers and passengers to control vehicle functions through voice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
